Hello to all
I play an '83 Flatiron A5 " "a Carleson"... I would like to have the last 3 frets removed from the neck extension and have it scooped out for more pick clearance in the sweet spot.
That's what I'd like to do!...can this be done ? has anyone had it done ?
any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, it can be done. We do that in our shop quite often. It certainly can get rid of the pick click.

Frank Ford details how to scoop an F style fingerboard extension on frets.com (http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Luthier/Technique/Mandolin/DropTongue/droptongue.html). You could do the same with the end of any A fingerboard. I did my f style myself.

Well, if you do that, you'll never be able to learn that stuff up around the 26-29th frets... :))
