I'm getting a funny sound from the "a" strings. #They don't sound right even when my tuner shows them in tune. Other strings seem to be just fine. #Has anyone experienced this kind of problem? #Could the strings just be sub-par? #Any ideas would be appreciated.

You might be getting harmonics from the strings between the bridge and the tailpiece. #Try putting a strip of felt or leather under the tailpiece cover so that it presses against the strings forward of the tailpiece (assuming you have a Gibson-style 2 piece tailpiece; if not, you can weave the strip through the strings above the tailpiece). #You can also buy rubber grommets or the Weber Wood Nymph to do the same thing.
