I'm very interested in the songs that were popular around the time of the american civil war, and am looking for a book that details the history of some of these songs as well as lyrics and music (preferably with mando/guitar tab but just plain notation will do).

A quick look on Amazon has shown me there are dozens to choose from. Anybody have any recommendations for such a book?

Thanks!

Hi go to your local library and look in the music secttion you will most likly find what your looking for and also look in the net some of the colleges have vast librarys of music from every century that was donated and has become public domain and its free. go to the net and look in free sheet music and you will come up with a lot of choices.
