This, I'm sure, has been covered before on this board, but what all does TablEdit do? Is it for converting tab from one instrument to another, or from standard to tab? Can you plug tab in and have it play back in midi or MP3 sound file?

I do 99% of my learning by ear, so reading tab really isn't that helpful to me. If it does the sound file thing conversion from tab, that'd be an awesome tool.

I guess alltabs.com uses tabledit mostly. Where can you get the demo version?

Thanks for your help.

I am relatively new to tabledit so I'm sure others can give you more expert advice.

First, you can download the demo version for free at:

www.tabledit.com

Second, you can configure the program to show tab or notation or both. You can hear the tune in midi format and follow along. You can slow down the speed and loop difficult passages. You can turn off the lead and practice with a backup instrument. Alltabs and Co-mando have hundreds of files already in this format.

This has been a tremendous help to me. When I go to jam and hear an unfamiliar tune, I ask the name and rush out to see if I can find a tabledit file on it. After a few days of practice, hopefully I'm ready to take a break next time.

I think it's more of a escort service than porn site, but please do use the hyphen if you want some good mando-tab!

What a difference a hyphen makes. I put in a hyperlink to co-mando on my website and neglected to insert the hypen. Boy did I ever get some interesting replies. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Yeah, be careful when you get excited about your mando websites and you tell your coworkers or even your boss...

"You gotta check this site out! #It's awesome! #I love it! #I spend all my time there! etc.."

and then you forget the hyphen....
