I have and I found it very helpful. Matt was very prepared, but left room for discussion and impromptu topics. For the prepared sections he had handouts, which is nice.

Any specific questions.

Hey Charlie! I think we were both at that workshop, the one with Keith B. in Oak Park right?

Peter, I agree with what Charlie said, and the handouts have some excellent exercises. It was quite fun and I'd go to another one if he was in the area.

I did the grand targhee workshop a couple of years ago. I really liked it, he says pretty much what other great musicians tend to say. I haven't needed to go to another one since, cause I'm still plucking away at what i got from him (philosphy and approach, not really the handouts for me). I would recommend it, and ask specific questions.

I took his workshop last year in NJ and enjoyed it very much. We had a wide variety of levels in the class and Matt made it work just fine. He is very down to earth, friendly, encouraging and a monster musician. Getting a chance to play his Gilchrist for 10 minutes didn't hurt either ;)

Go for it and bring a recorder with you
