Hi Folks,

I'm excitedly waiting to pick-up my "new-to-me" Weber Bitterroot tonight.

I've been wondering what kind of strings folks have found most suitable for the Bitterroot?? I've read good things about the Elixir's as well as the EXP J74's.

I'd love to hear what's worked best on your Bitterroot.

Thanks!

When I had my Bitterroot, I found that it was very responsive to string type, more so that some other mandos.

Many strings seem way too jangly and metallic on the Bitterroot. (Flattops drove me crazy.) I used the EXPs with good results; the coating may have reduced the metallic sounds.
I think GHS silk & steel and silk and bronze would also be good. I never tried the Elixirs.
Flatwounds might be another idea.

Obviously, people differ in what mando sounds they like best.
Experimentation is the answer and the fun.

Thanks Phil,

I just picked up some silk and bronze to try. I have heard from more than 1 Bitterroot owner that they are indeed string sensitive.

Always fun to play around and see what works best.

Silk and steel is what I have on my bitterroot and like them the best so far. I've tried almost everything on it the past 4 years. I have other mandos and have different strings on each. So go figure...
