Number one turned out fine for a first effort. Certainly not without its' flaws.

Hi Brookside,
I'm currently building my first set of mandolins right now. What aspects of the the building process did you find to be the most frustrating or difficult? What plans did you use for the F-style and which plans for the A style?

I was surprised by the difficulty of the binding. I went about it all wrong. I find the woodworking easier than the fretting and setup. I just need more practice and more instruction. (there is plenty of good material out there)

For the F I just used the old Siminoff book and plans. It was a good starting point from knowing nothing. I have both the Stew-Mac A style plans and the Siminoff A plans. I am not exactly staying true to either set.

I've never built anything before. I got lots of help from folks around here and I've learned from plenty of mistakes. The two A's are going so much better....
