Completely wacky instrument on Craig's List (http://spokane.craigslist.org/msg/736823927.html); seller claims it's inlaid with at least half an ounce of gold. Looks like the bridge goes right across the soundhole ... that can't be good, can it?

If the gold nuggets were pure 24k that mando would be worth about $425 today.

But why? The seller seems to have more gold than taste.

That did occur to me ... 'course those were electric instruments. But I think they're the only others I've seen where the bridge goes across the soundhole.

For $10 it would make a fine converstion piece: a folk-art wall hanger, or going from Mitch's comment, with the top off it's a fine popcorn serving bowl with a gold inlaid handle. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
