I'm stoked! #I just ordered my JBovier F5 Tradition from Jeff at Mandolins & More. #I've been borrowing one for the last six months, and I can't wait to get my own...

Just had to tell someone that understands....wife thinks I'm crazy... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

We agree with your wife then again we admire folks that are crazy about mandolins. Good luck with it. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I love your work on You-Tube, man that's some great stuff, playing and voice sounds great! Wish I could play like that...

Congratulations and enjoy your new mando. Those JBovs look sweet and folks really like them. You got a good start.

1st thing you do is change those SIT strings to some D'Addario EXP74's and get yourself a Wegen M150 pick! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Congratulations indeed. I hear nothing but good things about those. And on that crazy note, I'm sure many of us here would be considered crazy by our significant others, family members, etc. but that's OK. It's a good kind of crazy. Enjoy.

I bought my J Bovier from Jeff in February. Great mandolin and great person to deal with.

When I play my mandolin, the first thing everyone says is, "Wow, that is a pretty instrument."

The second thing is, "Have you ever considered lessons?"

At least the second statement doesn't come first. That's a plus.

The waiting is often the hardest part for sure. I remember when my new MM came in from The Mandolin Store, I checked the shipping, and it said it had arrived at my post office around 7:00 AM on a Monday morning, so I called the post office to see if they'd let me come and get it before I went to work, which they did. Altough the post office was only a couple of miles away, it seemed like it took forever to get there that morning.
I hope yours arrives tomorrow, and congratulations!

The Bovier is a fine starter instrument. As has been observed you might find a change of strings gives better results than the ones that it arrives with.

Welcome to the ranks of the obsessed.

Good choice for a first instrument. The descision to spend a little more on your first will turn out to be a good one, I regret buying a $100 mando to start, I upgraded in three months.

IT CAME IN LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!! Man is this a beautifully crafted instrument! I felt like a new daddy checking for all the fingers and toes http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ....I cannot find one simple flaw, absolutely perfect. I am very pleased with it and Jeff at Mandolins and more.

Like I told Jeff, I've got a long way to go to even come close to playing it well enough to do it justice, but oh boy it's going to be a nice journey. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

OK, now that I know what it sounds like, for those that say change the strings, what will change? Also what size is best?

I'll put up pics when I have time to figure out how....my other hobby is biodiesel... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Congatulations on the delivery of your new baby. Have fun and post pictures.

As far as the strings go, I was using J74's but recently switched to GHS silk & Bronze. So far I really like them. The bass end sounds much cleaner (hard to explain, but it just sounds better to me).

long life and happiness to you both ... or is three? will it be four? i've got five. some people have six and seven. bet you could handle eight. nine's nice - ten's better ... etc., etc..

complimenti - bill
