Top crack

I've just noticed a crack forming on my top, it's at the seam and starts under the tailpiece and goes about 3/4 of the way to the bridge. What's the normal procedure for repair on something like this and how will it affect the sound of my instrument afterward? Worried....

Try the builder's section with your question.
BTW, that's an indication that the top may be carved too thin in the tailpiece area, and fixing it may not be simple.
