I entered an F and an A model in this years county fair. The F won first place and the A took the champion.

Nice work John, and congrats on the recognition!

BTW, I was born and raised in nearby Connersville -- but please don't hold that against me. ;)

Congratulations!
Great mandolin.
I did a guitar building exhibit at our county fair back in 1980 and got the blue ribbon for crafts. It was a good boost and I went on to great fame and fortune, except for that last part.

I got the great fame AND the fortune. My kids think I'm famous and I got $2 along with the ribbon. HaHaHaHa

So we must be talking about Rush Co. Indiana. I grew up out in Ripley County. My mom lives down in Greensburg in Decatur County. I'm across the state in Bloomington.

What was the contest at the fair? Was it a folk arts competition?

Hi Jim,
Yep, I'm in Rush county about 10 miles east of Shelbyville and 10 miles west of Rushville. I entered the mandos in the Rush county fair.
I saw you at the Midwest Mandolin Festival. I really liked when you and Gordon Bonham did Route 66. That was Great!!!! as tony the tiger would say.
Thanks for the post and you have a new fan in Rush county. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
