Since my index finger has almost recovered played for an hour yesterday, can't wait for my three hour sessions.

Had Sushi with some new Prof's on campus

Went to to George Michael concert, I'm 53, my better half muchyounger. You would not believe the amount of 40 something women. There were no mando's in the band,

Glad you're confident in your masculinity. It takes a heck of a man to admit to going to a George Michael concert. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

His better half is much younger, it sort of balances out.

I met him in the Albuquerque airport a week before he got arrested for exposing himself to an undercover officer in LA. I was surprised at how short he was. As for my 4th, I spent the entire day sick and in bed. Hooray!

4th I planted hydrangeas (I've got red, white and blue in my yard now). #Today, the 5th, I've got a gig with my recently returned-from-long-absence guitar player and lead singer. #My better half is the backup singer. Early in the morning I'm off to Victoria, BC, so I don't really get a long weekend

Though I can't stand his music, I'd rather see him on stage than meet him in a public restroom... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Some of you Young Guns have been "Careless Posters" and might have indulged in too much Freedom, with Tone Monster's Faith in his experience at Club Tropicana. I hope we can Heal the Pain.

{blah- too many Wham! and George Michael References}

Okay, shall we sing Kumbaya or We Shall Overcome? #Seriously though, George Michael does have a great voice. Better then I'll ever hope to have. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Spent the morning of the 4th shoveling 5 yards of gravel (once again) out of my ditch and repairing the 2-foot wide, 2-foot deep and 40-foot long gulley caused by 4 inches of rain which fell in 25 minutes on July 2nd. #(I live on a gravel road, I called the county the morning of July 3 to complain to them I couldn't get in and out of my driveway #but - of course, government agency and all that - they had a 'long' weekend and weren't working.) #

Since I couldn't GO anywhere with the mini replica of the Grand Canyon preventing vehicles from egress/ingress, I fired up my garden tractor, hitched up my 1000# capacity dump cart, manned my shovel and rake, and relocated gravel from said ditch to gulley the evening of the 3rd and morning of the 4th.

Watched fireworks in the little town the night of the 4th, spent yesterday (the 5th) watching a ski show and boat parade; water-skiing and fishing; and finally watching MORE fireworks at the private lake my folks live on. #

God Bless America, and everyone who has fought (or is currently fighting) to give us the freedoms we take for granted, yet enjoy each and every day! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

That's my son, Chad, his son Carter and his daughter Hannah. Tough work, but someone has to do it.

I just noticed the sub-topic: Little mandolin content.

Well, here is a little mandolin, My Grandaughter's Kid-Mo.
This is proto-type # 1.

Adorable...I concentrate almost as hard as carter in that picture, but somehow think he'll end up a much better picker!

Spent the 4th at work until 5:30, then had some friends over for dinner and beverages...rain cancelled the local fireworks, but we fortunately went to a show on the 2nd. Not a bad day...not much pickin' time, though I made up for it last evening http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I had a ball on the 4th! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I went to the beach to watch the fireworks with a friend and got within a half mile of the beach and promptly got stuck in traffic.

Then the fireworks went off (we could tell because we could barely see the top of the fireworks behind the buildings that were blocking our view) and then 10,000 people tried to leave at the same time so we were stuck for an hour until the traffic started moving.

By the time we got back home my friend was not my friend anymore, or at lease reevauating our friendship because it was I who talked them into coming with me when they didn't want to!

So then (here's my mando content!) I went home and practiced on my mandolin until I got tired.

That's the best part of playing mandolin. It's always there ready to get picked on. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

When I saw the topic title, I thought " your 4th what ?"

A little slow...
I had a great 4th ! Many fireworks and much BBQ. Our RV park was FULL which is a good thing. I even had time to do a little picking ! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
