And what kind of mandolin does he play?

The mandolin that many of the players from Israel use are made by Arik Kerman.

Avi has just (today) sent Barbara a copy of his new CD "Concerti Per Mandolino" ... simply outstanding. He is an extremely talented player... as well as being a nice guy.

I think among many other projects he occasionally guests with the world famous Giora Fiedman (Clarinet- Klezmer music)trio, with our friend Jens-Uwe Popp (yes it's his real name) an outstanding guitarist.... you should listen to Fiedmans music... stunning.

mentioning Jens-Uwe Popp reminds me that he and our very good friend Jochen Ross are about to release a CD of Scottish music like you've never heard before "Ten Islands" I think is going to be a big hit... for mando fans Jochen Ross's mandolin playing is simply outstanding (it should be he's a University grad in mandolin and was the 1999 Internatational mando champ.... and he's still a young guy)

Both Jochen and Jenns-Uwe have worked with our Association many times (www.mandolinscotland.org).. really incredible musicians and nice guys... I'll keep you posted on the release date of the CD.
