I'm teaching myself to play mandolin...so far I'm mostly riding off old violin skills (been a classical violin player for almost two decades now), but that's not going to get me very far and I know it. I've never been a fan of learning things off the internet, to be honest, so I'm trying to secure some books to work off of. Anything would help, really...basic chord structures, perhaps a book of mandolin "standards," that sort of stuff.

The stuff I'm most interested in would be more bluesy music, but I'm open to more traditional folk or even Celtic tunes as well. Anything you guys could provide could help.

A) there are Genre discussions of those styles of music. a Section devoted to them, below..
B) the Home Page offers sponsoring dealer links, Elderly , for one has a great number of music books to read and learn from.

Andy Statman's Teach Yourself Bluegrass Mandolin was a big help in learning fiddle tunes.
I suggest, also, a subscription to Mandolin Magazine.
