I was looking to buy a better mandolin, i've been using a friend of mine's. His is a rouge, pretty much a POS he said, real bad action, etc. I don't want to spend over $300 yet, so obviously i don't need a top of the line instrument, i just want to get something that i like the looks of and that i can use for a year or so while i'm learning this instrument. here is a link to the one i'm looking at

if anybody has any feedback about these it would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.

also if anybody is trying to sell a used one in my price range i'd be willing to take a look at what you have to offer.

At that price I would look towards an A style Kentucky. #That Johnson is not much, if any better than your friends rogue(maybe worse). #You would want to get something with at least a Solid wood top, not plywood like the rogue or that johnson. #I suggest an A vs an F style because you get alot more bang for your buck in terms of tone and quality. I have bought a mandoln from the mandohut and the the process was very smooth, but if at all possible I would try to find one locally. #Whatever you do make sure it has a good set up. #I know the mandohut sets their mandos up pretty well, but if you buy locally they should be able to do it right in the shop. #Good Luck

Just checked out the mandohut site. Check out the KM 160. Thats a nice mandolin that you could have for a very long time.

Also check out the Mid-Missouri (Mid-Mo's) or Big Muddy as the new ones are called. Great learning instruments and hold their value very well so you could resell it at some point......

And Hey! Where in Ohio are you?

If you decide you would be interested in a kentucky a-style I have a (Japanese kentucky km-180s) a little better quality than the newer kentuckys. Its in mint condition has a very nice tone and it comes with a case i will let you have it for $300 and I will ship it to you for free.
