Why are you alleging that this is a scam? It's a known, reputable seller.

No, it's not a scam. It's an early Gary Price Gibson tribute. I'd love to hear it.

It was offered for sale on the classifieds here before it went to ebait. The "Simpson's" guys bought it, and are now selling it. As I recall, the original ad on the classifieds said that it was not really a great bluegrass mando, but had a sweet tone more suitable for old time and celtic music.
I think that it's a really cool looking mandolin, and if you've always wanted the one and only Loar #A5 but couldn't afford it, here's a chance for a nice copy.

I'm kind of surprised that the "G-man" wouldn't come down like a ton of bricks on someone who used their logo on a "tribute" (copy), or am I missing something?

Well, you don't catch people doing this any more, that's for sure. In the 60s and 70s some very highly respected luthiers got their start making Gibson copies: Randy Wood, John Monteleone, Cliff Sargent, and no doubt a few others. It's a pretty safe bet that Gary made this at least 25 years ago.

Since that time, it has become common knowledge that Gibson would prefer that other luthiers not use its brand.

Yes, that is Conan the Corgi. He's about ten months old in that pic-- about 15 months now. He's the best dog in the universe-- smart, funny, full of energy and cute as hell. He's staying with his parents in Helena, MT until I get back from the ice in November.

Here's Conan (a little off-topic, I know...) at about ten weeks:

There is a thread for the dog lovers amongst us. It is HERE. (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=15;t=35450;st=0)
You should post Conan over there as well.
