I think his account got hijacked. Looked at his previous sales and was all clothing and shoes. This is all high dollar music gear.

It generally doesn't happen by accident. Usually it means someone got into your account either through a phishing message or they compromised eBay's system. They obviously aren't going to talk a lot about it.

My brother has one of those! He used to play in the Washington Redskins' band, they had the instrument lying around, and let him have it, cheap. What is REALLY bizarre is that one of my composer friends wrote and sent me a mandolin and euphonium duet, NOT KNOWING that my brother played it!!!

Sadly, now that auction was pulled, neither do I. I was serious about it... well, at least $15 serious.

I sometimes wish that brass was a part of our folk music traditions, like it is in some other countries. I can just imagine playing that double belled euphonium in a pub somewhere, wearing a fedora and a vest or something.

I had a friend who played a regular euphonium, and other low brass, with various groups. He even played in the Tuba Christams one year, in New York City. The smaller euphonium has a wonderful sound, hard to describe, but very mellow, almost french horn like.

I played in a straw hat string band for awhile, with two other mandolins, and twelve tenor banjos, and my friend on the tuba. We played things like Avalon, Down Yonder, Don't Bring Lulu, Ain't Misbehaving. It was lots of fun. That was the only genre of music I can think of where the mandolin and the lower brass might play together.

If you have a chance you might want to check out a movie by the name of "Brassed Off" with Pete Postelwaite and Ewen MacGregor. It's about the community brass bands in England and the compititions they attend. It's a comedy - but the soundtrack music is wonderful. Warning - no mandolins to be found.

Jeff D. If Crooked Still can play stringband music on banjo, fiddle and upright bass I think we could do anything we wanted... It is folk music. You can make up the rules. If it sounds good it is good. Dan Zanes has incorporated tuba with mandolin, organ, and electric guitar on some tracks...

It can be done. That was kind of my inspiration.

My friend Edd has a two-belled euphonium that he got out of a dumpster.

This eBay scammer copies ads for high-dollar instruments and then spoofs them with hijacked accounts. He's been doing it with a K1 mandocello, and now he's doing it with two snakehead A4s that sold recently. I wish eBay could/would do something beyond just shutting down these auctions, but I'm sure it's prohibitively expensive to actually track down and prosecute folks like this.

There is a guy with a sax who plays at the BG jams at Texas Pickin' Park. He fits himself in really well, and is welcomed. I know it's not straight 'grass, but we are real friendly in Texas.
