I was at a festival a week or so ago and a friend said he would like for me to look at on old Gibson 3-point mandolin that he is pretty sure has back and sides of rosewood. He said he'd called George Gruhn who said he'd never seen one.
I looked at the mandolin and the sides and back sure look like Brazilian rosewood. I figure it can't be the only one, but if George has never seen one maybe it's pretty rare.
Who has seen one like this?
