I know this may have been discussed a thousand times, however I didn't find and posts that address this question:
Besides Waverly tuners, which do you prefer Grovers or Schaller and why..? #While I'm at it, how about radius fret broard or flat and why...? #Here we go...!!
Have at it.. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I prefer tuners that have a button that can be replaced with a screw. But I'm not sure which ones do. Gotoh, Grover or Schallers. I have mandolins with flat and radiused fretboards. I can't say that I prefer one over the other. It seems that a radiused board is a little more comfortable after playing a few hours. A good setup is probably way more important then the actual curve of the fingerboard.

For the money, I feel that Grover's rule. These are smooth and stay put. The buttons are replaceable. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Coming from guitar, I prefer a radiused fingerboard. It just feels more natural. I do believe that it is just whatever you are used to and as Gutbucket says, Setup would be more important that the fingerboard being flat or radiused.

Mine has the Gotohs. They work just fine and do have the removable buttons. Can't speak to durability yet.

with My F the Schallers are fine, well installed, work perfectly.
Just have to flip my thinking 'cause they turn clockwise.
On an A they are installed flipped so turn CCW.

I am not up to the Waverly level yet, but although my first mandos had Schallers, I now like Gotohs. I agree that it is nice to have the little screw at the end of the knob. Here is my most recent set of Gotohs, designed for the F-4.
