Hi all!

Yesterday I bought the boxed set Goodbye, Babylon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000DBOCB/qid%3D1088161865/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-1277696-3243259). This is a boxed set of 6! CDs (of about 70 to 80 minutes of music each) filled with all kind of religeous music from 1902 (!!!) to the early sixties. Almost every music style that was popular in those days is featured on this set. So think: Blues, Gospel, Country, Folk, Jazz and many others.

Artist range from Uncle Dave Macon, the Blue Sky Boys to Hank Williams, and from blind Lemon Jeffer to Blind willie Johnson. The track list is on the site in the link above.

And than the box! It is a wooden chest, with a 200+ page book containing every lyric of every song. Pictures of most musicians, information, bible quotes with each number. Real cotton balls are included with the chest for flavor.

Simply superb!! If you have the anthology of american folk music, you simply have to have this one!

I got this anthology for Christmas and have really enjoyed it. A handful of the tunes have been featured on other anthologies, but 95 percent of it was new to me. #As you say, it's a superbly packaged product. #I also think the sound quality, considering the source recordings, is outstanding.

It should be noted that the last disc is a collection of sermons, so it's only five discs of music. But the sermons rock in their own way, so I would still recommend this set highly to anyone interested in old-time religious music and culture.
