View Full Version : Best ebony bridge source/selection?

I got a Troubadour Tenor Mandola for a friend and I'd like to upgrade it a bit. I'd like to replace the bridge/saddle with either a solid ebony one, or an ebony with a bone insert.

Where should I look for the best of these, or for a good selection of them to choose from?

Many thanks,

steveV

Can you post a pic of the bridge on the instrument? Carved top? You may be able to fit a standard gibson type bridge, otherwise it may have to be fabricated by your local luthier. For this type bridge you have a choice of Darrell Wolfe(F5 Journal), Steve Smith(supplys Gibson), Daniel Smith, and Randy Wood. There may well be others too.

I don't know if this will show the URL or the image, but here is the
picture of the tenor mandola from the Troubadour site.

Thanks!

Flat top. Simple to make one and simpler to fit. You might try calling Sound to Earth (Weber) and see if they can come up with a flat bottomed brekke bridge to fit it. You will need to tell them how high the strings are off the sound board. The Brekke bridge is adjustable.
