Red? How's it sound?
Yeah....red. I kind of like it...it shines real purdy!!!!!

Sounds and plays great! Alot louder than I expected and a completely different sound than my F hole. And aloy more sustain too. It rings out for a long time!

Don't you just love that F-style peghead on an A-style body? What kind of strings are you starting out with?

Yeah, very cool. But it is kind of like the mandolin really wants to become an F-style. Congrats on a new mando.

Would you say the same about this Stiver?

No.
Aww come on! It's cool!

FWIW (not much) I think that type of peghead looks ok on an F-style, but even then it is not my favorite. On an a-style I think there are definitley better designs.
This does not mean anything other than it does not please my eye. If everyone liked the same designs we would only need one. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Crazylotrfan your signature line is a bit like what I tell people. I AM in shape. Round is a shape.

I would not have offered my opinion of the peghead if Pigdawg had not aksed in the manner he had.

Pigdawg I took any reference to you out of my prior post. Better?

Perhaps I should have said I answered the question as it was asked.
Hey, no harm, no foul. I guess that as a fellow owner of such an aberration I assumed it was a rhetorical question -- but I understand your dislike. I tend to feel the same way about snakeheads on scroll bodies. But I do love me some juxtaposition of the complexity of a Florentine headstock on the simplicity of teardrop shape! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Tha's one of the things that caught my eye....it's kind of an oddball look!!!! Not better or worse, just different!

I had it strung with D'add J62's when I had it setup. When I cahange strings, I'll probably go with Elixirs. That's what I've got an my M4 and I like the sound of them.
