Madison Early-music Fest

The Madison Early-Music Festival is July 10-17 in Madison, WI.
The theme for this year is "The Glories of 17th-Century Venice" and the program looks really good. There are numerous classes offered in lute, voice, recorder, dance, etc. But.....
the mandolin is a no-show. Nada, Null, Zero. Folks, we need to turn that around. Oh yes, the URL:

For those interested in early music, I'll just add the last-minute reminder that the Lute Society of America's 2004 Summer Seminar (http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~lsa/seminar/Cleveland2004/index.html) starts this Sunday (6/27) and runs through Saturday (7/3) at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. This is an excellent chance to see, hear, work with, and be inspired by some of the worlds best lutenists... as well as world-class vocalists, luthiers, etc.

And just for the record. The LSA's enrollment form now lists "Early Mandolin" as an option. I'll be there with a couple of mandolinos.

I'll be there (Cleveland) for half of Monday's schedule, dressed for on-the-clock fishing with no mandokin at all on hand. I'm still looking forward to it.

I thought I'd add that the concerts alone at LSA seminars are usually worth the price of admission, not to mention the high-quality one-on-one instruction, master classes, etc.

The heat and humidity in Ohio in late June? Well... you get that for free!
