Your video has prompted me to order your "The Pentatonic Mandolin" and reconsider dropping acid...(First part true, second part attempted humor) http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I second SternART's request of an Encore!

That was great.

Some great use of barre chords. Good stuff.

Actually, it was re-tuning. My G strings went out on me. This was done on a TV studio soundstage at the tail end of someone else's video shoot. There was ten minutes left if I wanted to use it. So those were the first and only takes of each tune. There was no choice except to retune on the fly, cause there wasn't time for any retakes. Totally unplanned, but rhythmically worked getting the G's in tune in a way that everything kept rolling (and musical)!

Yep, it sounded and looked like it was completely intentional. Someone once told me in a trade I was learning that the mark of a superior technician was the ability to make one's mistakes a part of the plan.

I think you've well passed that point and I doff my metaphorical hat in your direction, sir!

Great job Niles. I was watching your left hand and now I'm starting to understand what you are doing in "Bluegrass Up the Neck."
