Hi Ken: nice looking instrument, and I like everything about it, from the shape and headstock, to finish choice and binding color -- but I thought number 2 was going to be in yellow? ;)

I wanted to make it yellow, but the customer wanted clear blonde. I like it now though. Sounds great too.

I had the opportunity to play this mandolin recently and boy what a mandolin. It not only is beautiful, but it has THAT sound. The workmanship is tops. The wood is gorgeous with that 2 piece back. Just the overall feel is wonderful. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Ken - GREAT looking mandolin. I agree with Carl - that back is just gorgeous in that natural blonde finish.

Absolutely beautiful! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I voted for blonde the first go round and I am more certain of that now!! Looks awesome! Would be a great platform for an oval hole too. Maybe "center hole" would be more appropriate because it may need your artist sense of proportion to make it "flow." Simply beautiful Ken!!

Ken -- I like it a lot, a whole lot.

What type of wood did you use in the top?

That top is German spruce. I've had this wood for quite awhile. I guess I've got 100 tops left of that. Good wood. But it's all in how you build it inside...........

Ken -- does this design produce a different sound for you than the F5 models you've built? Or similar sound with just a different look.

Also, I've always like the lower point on an F5 that makes a mando rest nicely on a leg without sliding when you're playing sitting down.
Does the little indentation on the lower bout accomplish that on this? Looks like it would.

Really a nice looking design.

That thing is so hot is looks like it is melting. Great look, Ken.
