Hey all, Here are some pictures of my No. 19 mandolin. It's a lacquer finish mandolin with a red spruce top, curly maple back, sides and neck. A beautiful engraved James tailpiece, and Elite tuners. This one is fully bound in white celluloid. The sound from this instrument is very nice, loud and balanced... I'm very happy with it!!!

Headstock. Mother of pearl nut, fern inlay. This one has a radius fretboard and banjo fretwire too.

Nice mandolin, I like your take on the headstock!

I played the blue one you made for James Kee, and liked it. It has a massive chop and lots of volume. The neck is a bit too chunky for my tastes, but the tone was there.

I second big tuna, interesting take on the headstock. Excellent looking mandolin!

Looks like you are doing good work Brad. Is that binding wider than what is common?

Thanks guys. Bill, the binding is actually .080 thick instead of the standard .090. I think it looks heavier because it is a solid color. I had first bound this mandolin in white ABS, but just before I started the final sanding (after I had it strung up in the white mind you)the binding started to come loose. That was a real bummer to say the least, so I rebound it with celluloid and it looks so much better than the ABS. The white binding was a customer request and I wasn't too crazy about it until I finished it. Now I think it looks pretty nice. Crowder, I'm glad you liked James' mandolin. I've got a better neck shape now than some of my earlier instruments. The new ones are slimmer, more v shaped, and the shaft is straight farther toward the body, instead of slowly ramping up to the heel. I think they play really good. It's good to hear a little positive feedback on the headstock design too! Thanks!

Very nice. I don"t normally like white binding but this really looks great.
