Curious if anyone knows if this company will continue to do business. Interesting products, but I thought they were really pricey.

I emailed them asking if the product line would be available in the future. I'll let everyone know what I hear.

I've had a few phone chats with Alex of late. He asked me to keep most details confidential. He has been seeking a buyer for Pentasystem and still hopes that the instruments will be mass produced someday. Alex has decided that he needs to concentrate on being a musician and not a luthier.

I had to send back the Pentaula that I had on loan from Alex. I would have liked to keep it, but I couldn't afford to, and nobody came forward to buy it while I was trying to sell it.

I'll post more if I hear more.

mendakins opinion>>>It seems, to me he pushed the price per unit up too high , too fast, sub4 to $8K in just 3 or 4 years.
and it wasnt owned by Eric Clapton first. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Don't know if these are still available, but the Gibson-made prototypes are/were for sale here (http://www.musicground.com/products.aspx?cid=85).

Apparently that one's a baritone - I'd be *sorely* tempted if it were a five string.
