So would I capo on the 2nd fret to play in B flat using regular chord shapes on my tenor tuned GDAE. The girl Im picking with capos her guitar at 4th fret which she sez is B flat and then plays her chords normally (which I can recognize).
Thanks, Jeff
If she is playing G/C/D shapes and wants Bb, that is capo on 3.

Yikes, so she don't know whats up either...oh well I do all my picking by ear anyways but for chords I have a lot of trouble making em sound right if Im guessing. We are still having a lot of fun playing together, thanks!

ok...well we played some last night and it worked out a lot better than I thought it ever would. I came up with B also but kept my mouth shut and played...worked out great! Hehehe http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

But if you're looking for Bb (not b-natural), it would be the 3rd fret, as already mentioned.
With capos, as long as the two of you are in the same key, it doesn't matter what key the two of you are in.

we've since changed locks and are no longer having a key problem...all's well now, thanks!
