I have quit building mandos for the past couple of years with the exception of a couple of touring players but this is a belated christmas gift I did for builder Buddy Davis

I like it, especially the peg head binding.

Strange that you posted now. A day or so ago I was wondering what happened to you. I remember you were building some great looking (and sounding according to the ownwers) mandos at a proficient pace. IIRC the last mess of them had some good looking fir tops. Are you back at it?

Hey Darby,

I think you were working on the mandolin for Buddy when me and my family visited you and I bought my Rose #31. I'm glad to see you are still building and I wish would do it more full-time. Beautiful instruments. I was at a jam today and I got a lot nice comments about my Rose!

Sincerely,
Greg Rohrer

Beautiful, beautiful...

I was at the Yeehaw Junction festival a couple of weeks ago where Nothing Fancy was playing. I trying to get a good view of Mike's mando with my binoculars... Thanks for posting pictures. It's a lot better view than I could muster from the cheap seats!

It's a bummer when doing something so cool has to be paired with so much stress...

Beautifull! I love the 2nd one. You do a very sweet burst, and I love the rose inlay. What material is the rose? Also, how do you get all the colors in some of your inlays. Is it abalone versus mother of pearl?

Darby, my great black top F4 ( #15) is still a work horse with fine tone. The new mandolins look beautiful. Doug in Vermont

Nice, Darby. Glad to see you're still getting in some time on the workbench now and then.

My goodness, those are absolutely beautiful. Besides the finish, I like the red flower rose inlay.
Great work!
