Have people been getting the PBS/Austin City Limits 60-minute program from last October's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco?

Some fine music there, though I did get a bit irritated when they cut away from songs before they were finished. #Gillian Welch, Doc Watson, Del McCoury, Grisman, Fleck, Earl Scruggs, Charlie Louvin, Emmylou Harris, Ricky Skaggs, Lauderdale, and many others. #

Our local PBS station has broadcast the show at least three times in the past week. #With my new "high def" TV hooked up to the stereo, it's been a pleasure to watch (twice).

Oh, and one unexpected pleasure for me was Chris Smither. Not bluegrass, but a great voice and guitar. #Also Alison Brown, fellow Harvard person and a really inventive b*njo stylist.

You will never see nor hear a finer version today of Monroe's "Bluegrass Breakdown" then this one by Ronnie McCoury. He was flat burning it down in true Loar tour de force style.
