Just a thought if all else fails. I have a friend and co worker that has a daughter who lives in Germany. Speaks fluent and is married to a German. Would it be prohibitavely expensive to, if she is willing, have her buy a bunch of Lenzner sets and mail them to us? What sort of export and import fees. What price would it be expected she'd have to pay, living there. I am willing to get in touch with her if this would be possible and not to costly. I would give her a little extra for her time and trouble. Any thoughts. John #

I just got some lenzner strings as a gift with my new mandolin. I think the store price was 9.50 euros.

I just tried them out, and I can see where all the fuzz is about http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I could also send some strings to wherever, if people would like that. I live in the Netherlands by the way

Hello Roel,

What type of Lenzner strings you are refering too?

What I know about the price (I just received our yearly bulk of Lenzner strings and saw this on the bill) is this: the "Consort" Bronce strings-set costs €17,- and the "Medium" Bronce string-set €15,-.

A Bronce Mandola set costs €18,-.

Greetings,

Alex

Sellars thanks for the offer that would even be easier. Jgarber has a deal going with a local to us music store and we are hoping this works out but if not I would like to contact you . Thanks John http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I'd heard from a fellow board person that Lenzners were as cheap as 9 euro per set in Germany, so the 9.50 seems in line with that.

Best solution would be for someone who plans to visit to buy a suitcase full and bring them here in hand, then post them to the various mandofolk. Might cause talk at Customs, though?

The strings I'm talking about are:

Lenzner, Artist, Silk and Steel, no 3010

(copied that from the package)

The store I bought them from directly imports them from eastern germany (he told me).

hope this helps http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hello Roel,

Thank you for your reply.

The set you are refering to (No. 3010) is a SILK wound Bronce string set and not the same as the "Consort" Lenzners and the "Mittle" Lenzner string-set (these two are more similar to the No. 3020 Lenzner Mandoline string-set that has no Silk winding. #

Now I - and likely our readers here - #can understand the difference in price of the various Lenzner mandolin sets http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif.

Thanks again,

Alex

I just cannot believe that we are having such a hard time getting these strings here in the States. We can send a man to the moon, but get strings from Germany? This is so frustrating. I have one set left and I hesitate to even think about using them until I know more on on the way. Price doesn't matter at this point. Won't someone out there HELP US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Father's Day
