No financial interest here, but wanted to pass along a good buying experience. I ordered an ebony armrest from Doug Edwards after seeing them on this site and received it just as promised and inside a week. It's well made and looks great on my mandolin. Thought I would pass it along for those that might be considering it.

Yeah, Doug builds some great armrests and his carved mando stands are really cool as well!

I have the Mcclung armrest, I can't believe it was only $35, I recommend Doug Edwards' armrests also.

Along with armrests, Doug also makes some great pickguards. #He recently made a PG for my venerable Kentucky KM-200S, replacing the ugly black plastic guard it came with.

Here's a closer view. #The color is very close to the mandolin itself, but the flamed maple and ivoroid binding really set it off nicely. #Doug re-used the bracket from the original PG, but mounted it in a way such the the screw doesn't protrude through the face.

Last one, with the old plastic pickguard for comparison. The new one is a little bit smaller, exposing more of the treble F-hole.

He matched the streaked ebony pickguard on my new Brentrupwoth a similar armrest very nicely Here (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=15;t=49391;st=25).

I finally got my finger rest installed. It looks great, but works better! Sadly, the guy who installed it lined it up wrong the first time and had to fill and redrill my mando. I have two of Dougs arm rests. he matched the finish by a photo that I sent. He does great work.

I just purchased a TRC, armrest, and a pick guard from Doug and I can honestly say that he does exceptional work. All are top notch, well made, and all for a very good price. I'll post pictures as soon as I get the pick guard installed.

Doug aims to please and does great custom work. I have a very light-weight pickguard from him and plan on (soon) getting an armrest in that wonderful dark-stained birdseye maple. His work keeps getting better and better, I can see it in the great pics on his website and in those posted here on the forum.

I second (third, fourth) all of the good words about Doug. I've bought two armrests from him for flattop mandos. The first was a compact birdseye maple for my Weber Y2K, from his premade stock. A beauty.
The second was for my Big Muddy, which is both an unusual shape and "tubbier" than most other flattops. Doug made a custom design from a tracing I sent him, and stained the wood (birdseye maple again) to match the Muddy's rosewood back, using a photo. His extra charge for this custom work? Exactly zero. A while back I posted a photo of the Muddy and its armrest on another thread, "Big Muddy Custom Armrest" under Equipment.

Another vote for Doug! Not only is the armrest very nice, but he shipped it pretty much instantaneously. If I'm feeling flush sometime, I may spring for a pickguard.

I've had my McClung armrest for three days now and it's great. I can barely feel it but it's helped get my arm into the position I like. I won't have to put nearly as much effort into maintaining that position now that I've got the armrest. I think it may have helped with volume a bit, with my arm off the top.
Doug was very good to deal with. The armrest arrived promptly and was exactly what I was expecting.
