I went to Gruhn guitar. They had two MF5s. One 2004 with a single piece back. Nice and in great shape but at 6500 was a bit pricey. I figured for new I went with the new one at 7200. It is great sounding already, but you can tell it has plenty of room to open up.

If I bought a $7200 mandolin, my wife would pull the trigger with a gun against my head. #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Congrats on a fine purchase. I had an opportunity to play several different mandolins at Buffalo Bros. and my choice was the Collins MF. It just sounded so sweet and right to me.

Congats! After you wake it up good you'll have to give us the "ultimate" A/B with your MF(if you still have it). I'd be very interested in that. Ive got an MT right now and scroll envy keeps gnawing at me. Im moving to Austin in a month or so, and one the first things on the list is to take the Collings tour!

Great choice,I have #430 and love it more every day. Others have sparked my interest , but when I play my Collings MF5 I know we will never part. You are about to enjoy many great bonding hours.

I think I can say that you won't have buyers remorse over your purchase. I remember seeing it on the Gruhn website and it's a real beauty.

Yeah, I agree with the others - hard to imagine that you would be disappointed.

Cool, you have now in your posession a hand held howitzer. It will only get better with time and playing. Welcome to the brotherhood of the Collings ranks!!! Enjoy
