This Thanksgiving I was thankful for my new mando! #After wanting an oval hole instrument for quite some time, I finally ordered one earlier this fall. #The UPS man dropped it off on Wednesday, just in time for lot's of playing in over the weekend! #It's a Weber Bitterroot with a cedar top, one-piece back, and tortoise/white/black binding. #It sounds as good as it looks!

Yahoo!!! What a lovely instrument! The black tuning knobs look really cool, too.

Ya know...they do a great job on their mandos, they treat their people right, it's made in the USA, the sound is awesome, what more could you want? Looks like Scott's search is over!

Congrats on your new Weber; I just got one similar to yours on the Cafe. Mine is the matte finished Buckskin color and does not have the fingerboard extension; very nice and sounds great! I really like the color of yours though? I also like the new Logo and Flowerpot design; mine is the older style. Enjoy; I know I am. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

'Ya know I was reall happy with my STE until I started spending time looking at all these super fine mandos...the fever, the fever...you all are MAS carriers!

Very cool mando, I know you'll enjoy it! ('cause I've owned 3 of them, that's how I know! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ) Also, IMO the oval is a better look than the D hole. I no longer own any Weber 8 stringers but do have a sweet sounding prototype squareneck dobro with that same flower pot. Play it and grin!

Thanks for all of the compliments! #

bassthumper, if you can wait about a week I will record some clips of the Bitterroot. #In words, it has that old Gibson sound to it...dry, woody bottom end and very bell like on the treble side, but very balanced across all the strings too. #I too have a cedar top f-hole (see this thread Big Sky (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=15;t=34713;hl=schmidt)) that I love, so I decided to go with the cedar again for the oval hole. #I love the cedar sound! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Is Weber getting away from the Brekke bridge? I see many Webers now with the standard bridge.

They offer the Brekke Original(all-wood with the side adjusted wedges), and the Brekke Traditional(metal support under the width of the bridge and thicker posts and thumbwheels), an improved version of the standard bridge.

Yeah Scott, your Big Sky is almost exactly what my dream mando is. =P

Both are beautiful instruments, though.

looking forward to hearing the clips.....and the similarities & differences to the cedar f-hole....i figgered when i layed out the coin that the cedar f-hole se it would be the one mando for life.... but that MAS is strong stuff...
