Had dinner at a friend's house last night and she brought this thing out. #The label on the inside is torn out. #She said it's more than fifty years old - anybody recognize it? Sorry for the low quality photo - took it with my phone.

They have appeared over the years with various brand names on them. To my knowledge they were a Lyon & Healy mandolin.

By the way, it's probably late 20's early 30's.

Doesn't look like Lyon & Healy to me. But i might be wrong. Jim, what do you say?

Is that plugged into an amp?

I had an old Regal that looked a lot like that mando.

no - that's an electrical cord for the humidifier http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It is a Regal (or made by that comapny). Take a look at <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/REGAL-MANDOLIN-VERY-USUAL-BODY-SHAPE-1930S-BLACK_W0QQitemZ230190439352QQihZ013QQcategoryZ1

That really is pretty. Would that have come from the factory that way? I've never given those old flat top mandos a close look. Gonna check my family's attic tonight.

Jim, it was an L&H body style.
