My name is John Bucur. I am 25 years old and here is a pic of my first attempt at building a mandolin. (with very limited tools).

Here are some more pics when I built my mandolin. It took me about 4 months to build.

Nice job for a first. I wish my first were that good.
Now it's time to sweep the floor and begin another.

The top looks intentionally distressed. Is that so?

Nice job...how's it sound? Got a sound file?

Nice work man, looks like you are very clean. Hows the tone and playability?

As another new builder I can appreciate some of the challenges you overcame to complete this instrument.

Great job, it really looks good.

Keep at it.

I can't help notice the band-aids in the middle of the one pic.

I took the mandolin to a local shop who is famous for their bluegrass roots. They really liked the tone and playability. When carving I ended up making the top and bottom a little on the thin side, so we'll see how my next one will turn out. I hope to start my next one very soon! =)
