I played a Weber Bighorn in a music store last night and I fell in love with the sound. What is an affordable, quality 'cello for around 2 grand?

Linguist, you might post this question over in the CBOM section, those guys are always thinking about this stuff. I'm lucky enough to have landed a very nice long scale cittern and it just about does it for me, though a mandocello is another animal I know. Good luck in your search.

[1] I agree, ask your question in the CBOM forum; you'll get a lot of sage advice.
[2] Eastman is making a guitar-bodied mandocello that's quite good. I played one at John Bernunzio's shop and was impressed. There don't seem to be many of them available, but, discounted, they should fit in your price range.
