I can't help but what scale length are you thinking of. I want to try building a archtop guitar shaped body with a cutaway. I'm thinking 21.5" scale length, after playing on a 22.5" for a while.

Tom Cussen (http://homepage.tinet.ie/~tomcussen/index.html) of Clarinbridge, County Galway, Ireland built this custom eight-string tenor banjo. (http://www.banjoseen.com/8stringcomposite.jpg)
Sunny Mountain Banjo Company (http://www.banjo.ch/katalog/8-saiten.htm) of Stettfurt, Switzerland lists an eight-string Blue Moon Mandolabanjo.

Whatever the standard short scale neck length is this would be my first OM or Tenor Banjo I wanted and tenor banjo but I hate the single strings so this would be my solution but if you know of any one who sells them at a price that is not incredible as I am not made of gold then that would be good.:mandosmiley:
