Any recommendations who could inscribe a black truss rod cover like the Rinzler/Polin fern? Places like FQMS seem to have their set lettering patterns. Would someone like Bryan England or another inlay artist be able to do it, or would you be looking at someone like a jeweler? I really want it in the same style as the Rinzler Fern.

Check your Yellow Pages for vintage firearm engravers. Going here http://www.fega.com/ may help. What you want would be child's play for most of them. I think the era of art trophy engraving is probably past, but that's worth investigating. Jewelry and watch engraving is still alive in some places. But I seem to remember that First Quality was upping their engraving efforts recently.

Jim, you need an engraver. Harvey Leach, Ron Cahcey, David Guilietti are some I know. I'm sure there is someone closer to where you live. Ask at a gun shop, or contact the Rio Grande jewelery supply for a recommendation.

I bet Darryl Wolfe would know someone.
