This is kind of a strange topic, but after sending hundreds of string and mandolin merchandise packages out since the US postal service changed their pricing policies May 14th this year, I'm hoping I haven't offended too many...

The issue is Flat Rate vs Parcel. To send a 4 oz package (two sets of strings) should cost $1.31 Flat Rate, $1.47 OR $1.64 Parcel. The difference in these two rates have to do with whether or not a package is less than 3/4 inches, an even "flatness" throughout, and/or "rigid." Most of my packages have been less then that, but sometimes a pair will bunch up in the blister pack. Also the concept of rigid vs. flexible is confusing; though you can't fold a set of strings in half, there's still some give.

After five months of sending strings, I've only had a few mention postage due, but this is pretty embarassing. Someone buys something online, they don't expect to have to cough up another 31 cents or 50 to the postman to get their stuff, so if I've sent anyone out there a package with postage due, I owe you. Let me know offline if this happened to you, and I'll make it up. I'm sure many have been nice enough to just eat the 31 cents, but this is still bad form on my part.

Yeah, the whole postage deal is murky now. I used to simply weigh stuff here at work, add the appropriate stamps and that was it. Now, size/shape of package matters too.

Isn't life supposed to get easier the more you do it? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Ya, er, um, I'm pretty sure I've ordered 5000 or so sets of strings from you. Maybe it was 10,000. All postage due. So, um, pay up. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
