In three weeks I'm headed out to Nashville on a church mission trip and I'll have my Weber Yellowstone with me. Since I don't live near any respectable luthiers or repairpeoples (at least I don't think I do..) I was hoping to have it setup in Nashville. On a Wednesday night we're going over to the Gibson Bluegrass place. I would probably feel like an idiot carrying my Weber in that place, but I really want this thing set up! Charlie, Big Joe-feel free to chime in here on your "policies" at Gibson and things of that sort. Any advice here would be appreciated!

eightstrings,
You don't have a prayer of a chance and that's the gospel truth. The only chance you have for redemption is to trade that Weber in for a new Gibson. Just Kidding! I'm sure Big Joe and the gang will take good care of you! They're good people, you know.

I would think the Weber might burst into flames as soon as it got in the building! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I was in Nashville last October and had the same problem. I own an 83 Hutto master model and needed some light adjustments. I took it into Gruhns and was told that they did not do any repairs or pm work on anything not sold by them. They did give me the names of a few guys around town who could do the work..I think Gibson may be your best bet. If they cant help you they know of someone who can.

Gibson or Sim Daley is your best bet... Gibson don't care to work on non Gibson stuff it all pays the same to them. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Of course you may feel a little out of place. Kinda like taking a ford to a chevy dealership to work on http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

We will be happy to work on any brand mandolin. We know more about them than anyone and know how to do the job right. We have several repairmen who are more than able and also GREAT mandolin players. I would not take my mandolin anywhere else for work no matter the brand. We my feel sorry for you that yo don't have a Gibson, and we do take trades, but we will fix you up. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .

Thanks, Big Joe! I initially posted this topic knowing that you guys were the best- I just didn't want to feel like an idiot by bringing my Weber (which was a gift by the way! I didn't choose it) in to you guys. Thanks for all your help and hopefully I'll see you guys on the 23rd of June http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I think Gibson has a roll of electrical tape for the peghead inlay, just in case you forget!

No offense to the Gibson people, but take your mando to one of the others recommended. #They do great work, but I've much better prices quoted. #Sim Daley also has a website that's been posted here before. #Can't remember it now. #But I've had prices quoted to me from very established luthiers that were half of what the Gibson guys have quoted on these forums. #
