Has anybody played one of these? I'm wanting to buy an f-style mandolin and was looking at The Loar Golden Age and also at the Morgan Monroe MMS-8. Any thoughts on these two mandolins?

I have had a number of Morgan Monroe mandolins and now I have the MMS-5. All have been good at their price point, but the MMS-5 seems to be the best to me. I had it professionally set up and that is well worth the money. I've played it on stage, in jams and just pickin' and it is a good solid mandolin. A tuner button broke and I called the folks at MM and I had a couple of new ones in the mail within a few days. Good service and fair. That's what I know about the MMS line. Good luck!

The Loar mandolins have been discussed a few times here.

If you do a search you'll probably find more. Don't limit yourself to the MK and The Loar, look at the Eastman's and the Kentucky's as well.
