My sincere apologies to everyone for mistakenly creating four separate topics for these pictures. I guess there is a reason why I don't post very often!!!

For those of you who are interested, Tom used Red Spruce for the top and a single piece of Big Leaf Maple for the back. #He used fossilized walrus tooth for the nut, and he did a really nice double-binding. #The workmanship is flawless. #It is effortless to play and the tone is smooooth and sweet!

Importantly, Tom is a great guy. #He was a pleasure to work with and he is a real class act. #Compliments, also, to Travis Egnor at Gruhn Guitar. #You won't find a more helpful, honest person. #Together, they made the whole process a pleasure. #Thanks, guys.

That's some serious mandolin there! Having seen one up close and personal, they are flawless. Congradulations.

There's only one phrase that comes to mind, and that phrase is:

MAN ALIVE!

Welcome to the Ellis family. You'll find that the downside of owning an Ellis is you become spoiled and your MAS is basically cured. Congrats!

Nice pics Cory.

Lemme just say, that mandolin sounds better than it looks. That is the single best mandolin I've ever had the chance to play. It is most definitely a keeper. Congrats again Cory!

That is such crazy cool maple figuring on the back, I was looking for one of those 3-D 'hidden' images within it! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Looks like a new standard for "perfection". At half the price of the front runners.

Ellis mandolins are the the finest I have ever played, and #103 looks like it is keeping the tradition alive. Nice work, Tom.

The apotheosis of contemporary building. Superb!

I had to look up 'apotheosis' but you nailed it, Chris. What Tom is doing right now is pretty special. The goofy thing is that these mandolins sound and play as perfect as they look and the build is as clean as is possible.
