yeah Alan, those of us in drought-ravaged North Carolina forget how nice green grass looks...

I'm amazed he got the trophy considering all of the high chopping he's responsible for! Cool photo. That's gotta be every hockey fans fantasy, holding the Stanley Cup.

Too big a trophy for such an arguably narrow fan-base sport. Great luthiers. Awesome grass. Why not a soccer cup next time?

Looks like Jamie could hold his own on the ice w/ those guys. I believe Cranbrook is also hometown to the great Steve Yzerman. This year, we know the Cup will return home to Detroit where it belongs.

Best trophy in pro sports. Correct on Yzerman. Didn't recognize Rob without the beard. Shame the Cup went to SoCal rather than Detroit or Ottawa, but can't deny Jamie HIS due! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Great pic, thanks for sharing!

Not a luthier..but my son and the Stanley cup in 2004 (He's #22). #My 'winter life' is spent driving my son around to ice rinks. #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My luthier (Ken Ratcliff) lives in Kentucky. #Do they even have a minor league hockey team there? #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

But I think he lived in Jackson, MI for a while, and Lord Stanley's Cup HAS been in Detroit a number of times!

OK... so
1. I am not a luthier
2. I am not Steve Yzerman
3. #I have not won a stanley cup but
I have
1. Played a mandolin made by a luthier
2. touched the cup
3. won a couple of men's league tournaments in the over 40 division including winning one up in Canada a couple of years ago.

I always try and protect my hands when playing... gotta watch the slashes, makes it really hard to pick the next day.

They should have got Jamie to put a scroll on the cup while he was there!
Opportunity lost.

And you wear an official Steve Yzerman jersey (#19) when you play.

Does it help you play better hockey?

If so, I'm going to wear a Sam Bush hat or Chris Thile sport coat and ratty jeans or something.... #Might help my mandolin playing! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
