What the heck is this?

saw this on ebay. "Loar LM500-VS" ad suggesteed it was a vintage copy of the Loar. Said it lists for $799. what is it really?

It's an imported mandolin that has been discussed here before. It's one of these (http://www.axlmusic.com/Loar-Mandolin.1374.0.html). Pressed not carved top and back.

i dare say it's the same as an Epiphone mm-50 with a couple cosmetic details added. They can be had for less than us$500.
