Does anyone know of any sources for a bridge/saddle for an old L.H. Leland Brilliantone Mandolin?

Possibly you could get lucky on one of the lists/auction sites.
best bet would be to make one.

Bill,

Any chance of posting a picture of the Leland? There have been a few discussions here about Leland instruments and their relationship to L+H. Probably a few of us would enjoy seeing yours.

thanks,

Mick

My Leland Brilliantone has the original but is missing the bridge insert (see below). I could send you measurements and you could have a good luthier (or yourself) make one.

If you are not that concerned with originality you could easily get something like one of these bridges from Elderly: ebony (http://elderly.com/accessories/items/MA5.htm) or rosewood (http://elderly.com/accessories/items/MA4.htm) and fit it to the Leland top.

BTW I was lucky to score both the std and the piccolo Leland Brilliantones. The piccolo is tuned one octave above alto mandola (CGDA). I have since found a more appropriate bridge for the piccolo.

Here's a shot of one with what I believe is the original bridge

I could photograph the bridge from different angles and measure it if needed.

Lowell:
The bridge on my std one looks very similar to your (without the insert).
