I just traded a Michael Kelly mandolin for a Kentucky KM-850 which was bought around 96 or 97 or so, and came with a pickup built into the bridge, with a jack in the strap hanger at the tailpiece, it also has a pickguard on it. I suspect the people who bought it would have never specified that it have all that electric equipment on it, so it was probably used. The serial number is 17604, and I was trying to find out if it was built in Japan, Korea or China.
It sounds and looks great, wherever it was made it's a much better sounding instrument than his old one, just trying to place it.

With that serial number it is most likely a Japanese manufactured Kentucky. #

I don't know the details of your trade, but sounds like you got a good deal. #The Japanese made Kentuckys are really nice mandolins.
