Hi - after lurking around for a while, I joined the forum. #I've only been playing the mandolin for less than a year but I've been a professional piano/keyboard player for over 30. #For my own enjoyment, I've tinkered around on the dulcimer, ukulele, dobro and banjo, but when I picked up the mandolin I couldn't put it down - I love it! #There's lots of great information here... looking forward to contributing where I can.

Here's my Collings MT Custom:

Gene, welcome to the Mandolin Cafe! Yes there is a treasure trove of information here with access to many many professional builders and pickers. Mandolins are very addictive! As is this webpage! If I practiced as much as I am on this webpage I would be a lot better! Take care and enjoy! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome & since getting so many compliments on the strap... #I'm into 18th century reenacting and enjoy using some instruments around the campfire. #The strap was woven of linen and wool using 18th c. techniques by C.J. Wilde of Wilde Weavery (http://www.wildeweavery.com). #Her work is top quality and highly respected in the reenacting community. #Another friend of mine, Jeanne McDonald (Longknives And Leather (http://www.longknivesandleather.com)) sewed the leather tabs on the ends with linen thread. #The tailpiece end has a few "buttonholes" to adjust the length depending on my layers of clothing.

Thanks again!

My MF5 keeps me happy and I am sure your MT will do the same for you.
