View Full Version : New eastman....
I decided to upgrade from my cheapo Washburn M1S so bought this.

I tried all sorts of mandolins - flat back/fixed bridge/f hole/oval hole etc and this was the one for sound and playability. I did actually want a sunburst but this finish blew me away.

Its early days but so far I am very pleased with it - now I need a strap for the scroll so have ordered a Bailey.
Sorry I wanted the images to show so forgive me if it still does not work!!

I dearly love the way Eastman finishes their mandolins, no flash, just a simple elegant appearance. Very nice.

Nice Eastman, I love the wide flame on the back. I noticed in your photo album you have a booklet by Mike Longworth. Its printed in Minisink Hills, Pennsylvania, and I live about 1.25-1.50 minutes away from Minisink Hills. I was wondering if that booklet is written by The Martin Guy Mike Longworth?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif or when did you get it?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
Thanks Greenmando.
The book is a signed oopy of History of Martin Guitars by Mike Longworth that I have had for 17 years or so.
I photographed the signature because I was thinking of selling it at some stage.

Very very cool. I thought it must be old, because I dont think that publisher is there anymore. I would hold onto that book, it may be worth something some day. Its still some times hard to believe that all Martins are made right down the road from me! If you are ever state side, you should check out the factory tour. They have a nice assortment of fine guitars to play while you wait.

Very good looking instrument. So, this is the Eastman classic finish?
Congrats on your mando, Phil, I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it. I like the finishes on Eastman too, and I think that looks much nicer than a sunburst http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif And the back is particularly attractive.

That is the classic finish...I have two with that finish, not prettier than that one though...
I have now added a Bailey strap.
It's a lovely piece of work and I received it within a week of swapping emails with Loren. Just $34 USD which equates via paypal to £17 in the UK.
No payment up front - just send him the money when you receive it.
I am not experienced on mandolin but these straps seem to me like a very good deal.
