Here is a mandolin thats heading over the ocean. The woods are from Bruce Harvey (Spruce here on the cafe). One piece Sitka top, 2 piece quilted maple, tone bars, lacquer, Grovers and the usual Tortoise style binding http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Sorry about the shadows but the sun came out today for the first time in a week or so.

I think this winter Im gonna spend some time trying to figure out how to take a good series of pictures like Jim Hilburn, Hans or Poe does. Yes I know I need to start with a quality instrument but dang those guys show their mandolins so nice in the pictures.

keith, great stuff and lovely back, and the sun tailpiece is a great signature touch.

this mandolin is travelling over quite a few oceans! i know who is on the receiving end, and he won't be disappointed, there is no doubt. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Yeah, and I can't wait to get me hands on her...

Think I'll call her 'Pearl'. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Thanks Skip (and everyone else) I really like your mandolins also. Some day I would like to get to a gathering that a lot of builders are and sit down and have dinner and everyone talk about building. I think everyone would not only impart a bit of knowledge that someday may be lost but also learn something. One thing I like is the wealth of knowlege that is classified as " more then one way to skin a cat".
